 For a car to be classic, it must be over twenty five years old, although some clubs have more exclusive opinions on what that means. For fashion, classic refers to a look that has lasted through the ages and been worn through many different fashion trends. There are a number of classic looks, and a few items that will never be out of style, the little black dress included. In many ways, cowboy apparel– cowboy boots, hats, jeans, embroidery, and so on, are also a classic style.

To be sure, once western wear came into it’s own the look did spread. First, it spread through those on the cattle drives, and then those settling and working the west. Later, it became more ever-present as more and more cities sprung up around the country that had once been outposts. Eventually, western apparel became a fashion choice one could make. From their original design to help those on the cattle drives of the late 1860s stay safe to being worn on the runway in New York, cowboy boots have long been an item that was fashionable to wear.

Cowboy boots, and other hints of cowboy apparel, such as belt buckles, could be seen in big cities, even paired with business suits. People found all kinds of different occasions to wear these boots- with jeans and skirts, suits and slacks. It seemed that small doses of western apparel were being used to spice up outfits across the whole country. Western wear has even evolved separately in these two situations. Fashion western wear, on the other hand, has made a few shifts in the big cities and inspired spin-offs that would be downright silly were one to live on a ranch or tend cattle and sheep for a living. Still, as fashion is wont to do, western wear has been adopted and will continue to evolve, both on the ranch and on the runway.
